New back-end on order!

So after much deliberation, I decided to just go ahead with the new back-end. Basically the logic was I've already spent so much on the car already, we might as well just spend the extra 2,000 USD (Parts, shipping and labor) for the back-end.

Basically my choices were VERY limited up until recently. The Charger as a mod-able car is... not the best. But it's a challenge.

The charger is blessed with a decent motor (Or a good one if you have an SRT-8 version, which isnt sold here, and little else. the granny back-end is geared more to better mileage than performance, and the weight of the car is something I've bitched about before.

The motor is set, if you've been reading this blog you already know that, so is the suspension and handling. The weight isnt something I care about too much, she is still a street car, and I dont intend to gut her to be a race track car anytime soon.

That leaves me with 2 areas untouched. The back-end and the transmission.

Oddly enough, the tranny is a decent one. It isnt the best performance wise, the new 2010 challengers have much better trannies (the MTs) but it is a mercedes NAG tranny. And being Mercedes made, I'm willing to bet it can handle alot.

We are then left with the back-end of the car. With 2.82 gearing, and no LSD, it isnt the most GO car in the world. The SRT-8 is a bit better, but only a bit, with it's 3.06 gearing.

So what now? Isnt that a good mix of Go and comfort? Yes it is. It really is. An SRT-8 is a very good car at mixing a comfortable ride and the scare the shit out of you factor.

But I've spent alot of time and money on making my car the fastest R/T in the middle east. So I'm not too worried about the comfort.

So to that end, this is what has been ordered (Picture above):

The back-end out of the 2009 Dodge Challenger, pictured here (so pretty!) and it includes:

Upgraded 33 spline Axles/Hubs
226mm 2009 Rear-End
3.73 Gears
Getrag LSD

Note that we are getting a beefier back-end with MUCH better gearing for the lower end of the RPM bend, the gears are 3.73, beefier axels and hubs, that can and have been designed to take over 2000 lbs of torque (I'm at 570... I wont ever be at 2000) and we are getting a Getrag LSD, to help with the insane spin she now goes through. I hope that this will help get more of that power to the asphalt.

We hope to have this all done by the time AJ comes back to the UAE for a winter tuning session. I am still very happy with his work, and cant wait for her to be tuned for the cooler winter months.

OK,I am a gearhead too. I relate to all things mechanical. I am going to read your posts and see if I can offer some stuff.

Many thanks. Please do, especially if it's HEMI specific. I am 99% sure that she is currently the most powerful Charger RT in the Gulf, but there are a few people on my tail. So keeping that title will be tricky. Any help is much appreciated.
