I was reminded how important a good tranny is

Although Mizuho has 465 ponies under her hood, raw power isnt everything. Any decent tuner knows that, but only on the street or at the track are you hit with the fact in the face.

I decided to race a C6 vette today. Sadly it was all from 140 KMH upwards. and god did it eat me alive.

An RT has a really bad tranny. 1st off it is the same tranny as in an E class mercedes. that isnt saying much, the transmission that gets the CHEAP mercedes cars from A to Z.

After that you come to realize that 2.85 gears is the mathematician's way to say I SUCK at higher speeds.

Although my main focus now with this project is the stroker (a 6.4 liter) that will add roughly another 100 hp, After that is done my focus must be a back end.

CMJ in the US, a great shop, not for the faint of heart, have a "track killer kit" as they've called it.

1000 hp 1/2 shafts, LSD, Rear diff, fully bullet proofed, and... 3.55 gears.

A guy I know has a 6.2 liter in his Lumina SS, originally an LS1 @ 5.7 liters. he is able to out run Ferraris because of both his 512 hp car... AND the fact that early on he switch out his shitty tranny for a custom setup including a LSD, and 3.70 (WOAH) gears.

Power isnt everything, Torque is cool, but getting it to the wheels WHEN you want it is an art, and one I'll need soon.

First Dyno Run Results

Oh fooking hell! My 1st dyno runs, done at Patriot Performance in Abu Dhabi, yealded 395.1 ft-tq and an amazing 464.5 bHP! Just around 370 wHP. I am way too happy. And being the greedy guy that I am, cant wait for the stroker!

So a little about the new BMW M3

It's fucking slow.

Ok Ok, not that slow, but slower than the Shadow Charger.

Coming back hope from getting my car detailed at Yellowhat in Times Square Center in Dubai I had the fortunate chance to cross paths with a brand new M3.

It had a bunch of graffix on it, saying BMW Driving Experience. It was a real M3, not a 3 series coupe with a body kit. This thing was mean. sounded amazing, and was FAST.

So the 2 guys come up beside me and are looking over, so I floor her to let them hear what a huge 5.7 liter sounds like. Remember the new M3 has a 4.0 liter V8 with 414 hp at the crank. a very formidable car.

So we go, and we are literally neck and neck.... 80, 90 at about 100, even though this car is a 6 speed and redlines at 8,400 rpm, I start pulling on them... by 120 I am a full car's length ahead, they cant believe it, and slow down, so do I.

Then the slow to about 50 so I follow.

And before I have a chance to match their speed, the floor it, so I follow. Even though the M3 is loud, the Charger is much much louder and is freaking them out. They are a car and a half a head and I start to close the gap slowly. finally when Im 1/2 a car ahead they stop again and I can see the passenger guy making a motion with his hands. they think I'm using a Nitrous setup.

I found this pretty funny.

After wards they follow me, take the same exit, and get to the light.

It turns green, I floor it, not all the way, but enough that I start to loose traction, but then again so do they (not as much as me, but they are spinning as well)

I guess my INVOs are what gave me an edge there... plus the guy didnt know how to launch. finally the take a left into a gas station and I continued on my way to the bookstore.

I am WAY happy with my current setup.

Finally! I can frikkin see!

Yep, I, the person who was dead against them, have turned to the dark side! 8000K HIDs in the lowbeams finally installed. Seriously a great plug and play kit WITH anti flickering hardware. From

Cant wait to try them out at night! I hope they arent too bright... I seriously was considering 6000Ks. I dont want a ricer blue look. But was assured 8000K was the way to go. We will see!

Pop That Hood Man!

So although all the pictures are nice, Only the outside (and dashhawk) are shown. and although I am LOVING what Mizuho is becoming, Its only fair that I highlight the BEST parts of her. She currently stands as on the right.

She is somewhere between 400 and 430 hp. This figure will become more fixed as soon as she's broken in and can be strapped onto a dyno.

Although I cant take any pics of the suspention mods, and the performance ones such as the heads (would you be able to tell them from the old ones? and headers for example, you saw below a shot of the Borla 5 inch (yeah) tips, here are a fer pics of under the hood. all you can really see is the Afe Stage II CAI. but it's something.

Powdercoating and Nitto INVOs

This is what a 16 Dollar powdercoating job looks like! Pretty damn good!

Oh Yes! This is truly excellent!

So here she is! Finally. all parts on except rockblockers and HIDs.

HP vs. Tq and it's implications

One thing that always bothered me with this car was the fact that it produces more torque than horse power.

In my old experiences, (A Nitrous powered eclipse, a Turbo powered Eclipse, and a Supercharged RSX Type-S) HP was always more than torque. Yes an American Muscle car is a torque monster but usually, cars where the tq is greater than hp are amazing from a stop and lack when it comes to top end power.

This car is being built with highway long-range racing in mind. I dont like race tracks, never have, and never will.

So I'm wondering if this will cause issues for me down the line. Am I creating a track monster by mistake when what I really want is a street champion?

Time will tell. Maybe a turbo will come around for the LX at some point. It would be nice, because I would rather than as opposed to a Supercharger.

For now though, Im ONE DAY away from getting the car back, and enjoying what she should have been all along, I'm just really greedy. I cant wait for the 392 and I havent even tried her out as is! lol.

The Beast Lives!

So today everything, including the damn pushrods that "vanished" then "Re-appeared" in the mail was installed. The cam, heads, suspension, headers, catback, hi-flows, everything but the new rims and tires.

The liquids were double checked, and the key turned, ignition and boom.

She sounds MEAN. God like a real muscle car. what i would expect from a 5.7 liter.

I'll have pictures and videos. Also hitting a dyno shop after finals. so sometime next week. Im expecting around 370-390 wHP. That is (roughly) 420-430 hp!

Cant wait.

Powder-coating ahoy!

So I know that alot of people are used to having to pay 100+ US Dollars per rim for powder-coating.
Here in the UAE it costs roughly 16 bucks a rim! Dupont powder, Gloss Black.
Here's a pic taken with a shitty 2.0 MP camera. Going on the car in 2 days! YAY!

Powder coating was top notch and was done by Delma Coat in Mussafah, Abu dhabi. Contact their manager, Mr. Joseph for pricing and other coating options.

Headlight Covers by GTS

Yes, I know up until now the mods have been VERY basic, but you have to start small.
These are annoying, look amazing, but annoying, they arent on her anymore and I dont think they'll be back. Rock Blockers have been ordered instead.

Also notice the SRT-8 cross hairs! The stock chrome setup is eh.

Tinted and Color Matched Tails

Here are a few pics, Many thanks to 420 motoring for these!
Install is very easy and takes about 30 minutes.

And 1st there was light

This is meant to be a log and a history of this project, my Shadow Charger, Also known by the more personal name of "Mizuho" is my attempt of creating a car the way I envision a car.

In 2006 I went car shopping and sadly was appalled by the choices out there. High inflation and insurance meant that I couldnt buy a car I sort of wanted, and no car I could afford was a car I really wanted.

My remedy? Buy a car I liked the most of all and spend the next 1/2 decade turning it into what I wish a car manufacturer would offer.

This is the start of the story. This is Shadow Charger.

She started life as following:

2006 Dodge Charger R/T
5.7 Liter HEMI Engine
340 bHP ~ 285 wHP.
5 Speed automatic transmission with 2.82 gears
All options except Navigation and park assist.

Her story really began 2 years after buying her, when the warranty was up. That was 3 months ago.
