Time for the big boys. Stroker... Which one?

So everything that can be done to this car has been done. She has the best heads, cam, and boltons money can buy. The heads and cam are considered semi-major surgery, so you can see how modified this car is.

Its time for a stroker. New bottom end. for those who are reading this and seeing BLAH BLAH BLAH, lets elaborate just a bit.

A modern engine (also called a 4 stroke) completes a full cycles (look it up on wikipedia) in 4 strokes, or "turns" as I call them when explaining to much younger racers. a car's engine size, or "displacement" is, contrary to popular belief, not the amount of oil that it takes to keep it lubricated (a 3.0 liter isnt so because it takes 3 liters to keep it lubricated)

An engines displacement is the volume of the air/fuel mixture that is consumed in one full cycle.

My car's engine is a 5.7 liter. therefore (roughly, as manufacturers usually round up the engine displacements) 5.7 liters of air and fuel pass through it's 8 cylinders in one cycle.

A stroker is a mechanism where you increase an engines displacement. no, we dont go out and buy a new motor per se, what we do is increase the bore and stroker (again, wikipedia) of the engine. And, in a high performance motor's case, up the compression ratio of the motor while using fully forged and or titanium (where applicable) parts.

That is the general idea. the end result is a larger engine with the ability to withstand ALOT more pressure, and thus creting much more powe, than the stock one.

As I stated, my car's current engine is a 5.7 liter. my current choice, that I need to make is, HOW BIG of an increase do I want to make?

from 5.7 liter to a 6.4 liter
or from a 5.7 liter to a 7.0 liter?

Contrary to what most of you are thinking, bigger isnt always better. This choice need to be made with future modifications in mind. not just what is best for the next few months.

The larger 7.0 liter with the higher (10.3) compression pistons is great for a fully NA car, or a weekend nitrous user, and will on it's own out perform the 6.4 liter.

However, if my thiking is a supercharger or turbo down the line, the 6.4 liter will be a better choice, based on past experiences (mostly others, not mine)

Both choices will put out about 600 bhp, the differences are in the whp and tq.

6.4 liter will be a 425/450 engine
7.0 liter will be a 450/500 engine

I would love that 500 ft-lb of torque, but a seven liter will decide my fate in the future. No supercharger, no turbo, a nitrous kit, maybe, but thats it.

Its a balancing act, I know. And with how the laws are here in the UAE about modifying cars, a turbo or supercharger is a bad idea. We'll see.
